nylon? over pump filter

I have this pond that has naturalized quite well
But I do have a filter in it A pump rather a good pump

I keep it cleaned out and I think it does a good job
I was thinking could I put a scrub pad over the filter piece
I took apart a plastic or nylon scrub pad don't remember the company name But when I unrolled it it is a piece of fine netting all rolled into this pot scrubber
It could nicely cover the filtering part of my pump
Is probably some plastic stuff or maybe nylon
Do you think it would be okay to try this or might do some harm to the pump

You might have to clean it rather frequently. Small particles that would normally pass through the filter and pump without harm could plug up a fine netting quickly. That is one objection many of us have to the filter sponge that comes with many pumps. The net might also get drawn into the pump.

I used quilt batting around my pumps for several years but got tired of constantly having to pull them out of the pond and clean them. My back couldn't take it anymore so this year I built a Skippy Filter and just set the pumps in the pond. Seems to be working well.

Skippy seems the best way to go - that's my next upgrade.
