Sounds silly...and it gets sillier....so, I went to a friends house, she had a nice little preformed pond and she had cast these gorgeous cement leaves that were the waterfall into said pond(2/3 goldfish/waterlily)well as I was sitting there a little bird landed and was drinking off the leaf....THAT is when the obsession for a pond began!!!! Roll forward about 6mos, her FIL is selling a pond pump and a pond filter...to me...cheap...forward about 4yrs!!! After wanting the pond in 2 other places and FINALLY deciding where..even THAT was a challenge! In ground...no, above ground on the deck...Finally the hole is dug...in a raised bed...so it is abouve ground AND in ground!!!(did I mention said pump and filter handle 2000gal, so thats the size I went for) So another yr and the hole gets a liner! Now rockwork...today a pergola...the "pond" has filled with rain water..have to empty it out and clean it up to fill, plus the edges of pond need some mortaring/cosmetic work, so need to stand in the pond...No problem, just get the pump out! YES!...er, no...doesn't work...poo...get the back up one...
plug er in...not working!!! What?! So I phone my friend who owns a pond store...he is open on sunday!!!YES! Off I go, taking said pumps and filter with me....I get there and he says that he is out $9000 because he used to sell Calpumps...they are pure crap! So he hooks me up with a new pump...with a healthy discount cuz he loves me!!!heh heh! I bought my liner from him too and got sooo much advice plus I have saved $150...sweetest guy in the world!! So now I have a energy efficent lugana pump 2400gal and my filter is a cyprio 2000 with a uv. I am glad they died before I put them in the pond!lol! It may have taken 5yrs to build this puppy, but what I will reveal to you in a few days...will be sooo worth it...so stay tuned..some final pics to come... I will have a total of $1400 into this pond creation when I am done. That includes pond/pump/filter/rock/labor/castle/lighting/bog.
