extremely fat gold fish

We've had this fish with others nine years. Three years ago we saw this one was getting really fat. We checked some and generally was told it was fine. Every year it's fatter...now to the point of being nearly round. Otherwise it seems healthy. Has anyone else had this happen and what to do?

Olivia, unless there are scales sticking out, it is probably normal. Shape in comets can be very different from the ideal. I had one that looked like a plate standing on its rim. Lots of the odd shapes don't show up right away or they would have been culled.

Just keep an eye on it and maybe reduce feeding. If it really bothers you, get a second opinion.

I would love to see your fat fish. Can you post a picture?

I have the same problem, my fish is so fat it almost looks like its spine is getting bent. I think its that scale disease(which can happen without the scales sticking out.

does not look like dropsey or the scales would be sticking out like a pine cone.

I'd say it is a healthy, yet chubby fish but I am not expert LOL
