I have decided to convert my above ground pool from sand filter, energy sucking pump, and chlorine, to a natural pool along the lines of this idea only smaller.

I created a veggie filter similar to the one that filters my pond and filled it with water celery, sweet potato vines, and loosestrife. I am also adding water plants including parrots feather and large water lilies in the pool itself.
