Protecting tadpoles/frogs from snakes

Anyone have a good idea for protecting tadpoles and frogs from snakes? I have a milk crate in my little pond, but the snakes can wind through that too.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I am not sure you can protect them. They aren't really intelligent enough to learn to fear the snake and run towards any shelter you provided, and probably wouldn't get a second chance to run away anyway. As long as snakes are around, you will lose some critters. Snakes have to eat too, ya know!

Thanks cindy. Was just hoping I could save a couple from the jaws of death. haha
I pulled a huge long sheet of string algae out of my little pond. Would that have been a place they could hide, or would the snakes get through that too?
Hopefully, the snakes are finding enough mice around here to eat instead. (sorry mice!).

Catherinet,

Maybe the best way to look at it is that the snakes will eat a few frogs (and it will be the weakest ones) as between meal snacks for when a mouse or two happen to straggle into their area/your property. It lets you come closer to a more balanced eco-system even if you like the frogs better than the snakes.

Thanks Don,
I only have 1 green frog and 3 snakes......one of which is about 3' long. So I'm kind of heavy on the snakes this year.
I don't know if they're the reason I don't have the usual number of frogs this year, or if its just an off year for frogs. But I do miss those frogs. Luckily, I have a bunch of tree frogs, who can get away from the snakes better.
What a racket they make at night...but I love it!
