Fish hate me

Ever since the 26 hour power outage about ten days ago which killed five of my biggest, nicest and tamest koi, the remaining ones are petrified of me. When the dead koi were here, they would all swim down to me and come out of the water and take food from my hand. Now they will not get near me, swim the opposite way. I went in the pond four times that day trying to "swim" the dead fish around to revive them. Would that be the problem? We got a generator that day and saved the rest, but they're not the same as they used to be.

Awww...(((lily))). Patience, patience. They're still in shock by whatever took the lives of your favorites. (and I'm not entirely convinced they aren't mourning - just sayin'). Anyhoo, give 'em some time to adjust. They'll be eating out of your hand again in no time. They love you, they do, they do. (yes, folks fish have emotions).

blessings,

RE: Fish hate me

Totally agree fish have emotions. One of the dead koi was the mother of some of the remaining ones. We took four fish of undetermined origin from our small pond and put them in the big pond, and they all hang out together. I haven't eaten meat in 30 years because of humanitarian feelings and soon I won't be eating seafood the more I'm involved with these special fish.

They don't hate you. Getting into the pond probably scared them. Now they think you are a big predator. They'll get over it.
