Any ideas for hiding exposed liner on side of pond?

| It appears that the south side of my pond has settled which, when the pond is full, the north side has 2-3" of liner showing under the ledge. Any ideas (other than pulling back the liner and dropping the north side down-the length is approxiamtely 20') to cover the exposed liner that don't involve "chiseling" into the stone-hard dirt on the north side? Pond is 15' x 20' oval, 3'-4' deep with a 10' waterfall dropping into the pond. Even tho others don't notice this, it sure BUGS me! |

| What about trying to bring back up the side that has settled, i.e. bringing in some soil to place under the liner edge in that area or slipping some flat rocks under it? Would that entail less length than dropping down the north side? |

| I thought of that first EXCEPT (don't ya just hate that word##)the south side has stacked rock sides and more plants close to the edge. Take a peek at this picture of the south side - do you think it would put too many rocks under water, especially by the waterfall? Also, I don't think I was too generous with pond liner on the south side so might not have enough for the added height. Any experience with fashioning a trough made of netting to go the length of the north side and fill it with loose plants, etc? Maybe anchor it to rocks at 1' or 2' intervals to keep it from dipping too far into the pond? Your idea definately would be faster than working the dirt on the north side....keep those creative juices flowing my way! |

Place some bricks with large water tolerant plants in front of it to hide it. Here is a pic of mine. You can't see the liner on the side that has the tall plants but you can everywhere else, lol. My dirt settled more than I thought it would when I planted the garden but at least I don't have to worry about it getting into the pond.
Ignore the rest of my yard please, lol. Here is the front view. All the tall plants on the left side are in the water on bricks. The red flamingo was hubby's father's day present. He calls it his guard bird and hopes the heron doesn't think she is pretty, lol.

| I can't tell from your picture where the liner is showing or if you have plant shelves. If you don't you could use the suggestion here with plants placed on bricks or milk crates to hide the liner or plant things like creeping jenny along the edge that will trail over the edge. |

Hi, I took nylon screen and gooped on a good layer of silicone and put a layer of gravel then let it set. The silicone holds the gravel in place fairly well and it is pretty flexible. This is the first time I tried it so I do not know how long it will last but it worked for covering the edges of the plastic spillway I use and the birds can't dislodge the stones. You could anchor the netting above and let the rocked part hang into the pond over the edge. It only works for peagravel anything bigger is too heavy. |

| Wow, great ideas: fool4flowers: your pond is awesome! and I think I'll add some of the tall plants, they look great in your pond. jalal: no plant shelves on that side (ya, what was I thinkin) but good idea about putting stands or milk crates along that side. In Iowa, we've got a TERRIBLE problem with jenny's brother "Creeping Charlie" so I don't even want to start that critter by the pond. squirelette: Oh man, didn't even think about making a strip of stone/rock to hang over the edge. I've got the black foam left over from sealing the waterfall and "glueing" rocks in place. I think DH has some nylon screening in the shop that he used in the hog barn -- if it's good enough for pigs, it's good enough for me! I've got two pink flamingos hanging out in the berm above the pond, maybe I'll stick them in a pot (so they don't poke holes in the liner) and set them on rocks or a milk crate in the pond to hide some of the liner IN ADDITION TO the stone skirt, yup-that's what I'll call it if anybody asks. Thanks for all the great ideas - I'm so happy it's Friday so I've got the weekend to work on this. Happy times ponding!!!! |

| What a good idea with the flamingo in a pot. I'll have to try to find one to put in my small pond in the front, lol. It doesn't have as much of a garden. Just a small strip. |

| I have no idea that doesn't require digging but when we build liner ponds we did a six inch wide shelf all the way around that is a foot deep. We stack flat rocks in this shelf to above soil level then fold the liner back towards the pond and trim it off. Then stack one more layer of rocks. This way you can't see liner if the pond water level drops and the edge is higher than surrounding garden so water with fertilizer or mulch doesn't wash in. I use ground covers to soften the rocks. Treefrogs love to hide in the rocks. |

| Why aren't weekends longer :-(, I got the nylon screen webbing to "foam" the rocks to so I can put a rock skirt around the north (too high) side. But, as I was FINALLY vac'n the pond, I think I can raise the south (too low) side with another layer of rocks. I'm thinking those two actions will be a good compromise. Isn't it wonderful the things you notice and can figure out when you're sitting around the pond at 8pm, 90+ degrees, filthy dirty from pulling weeds, and enjoying a Coors Lite...
