External UV lamp

Hello everyone,

I am wanting to replace my Laguna Powerclear 1800 UV and am wondering if anyone can give me ideas on other reliable, easy to maintain brands? I have had 2 of these over the last 2 years. Last spring when I went to replace the bulb I found that it is extremely difficult to get a tiny screwdriver into the sunken screws and I could never get it open. So, being in a rush I just bought a whole new unit. Same thing this year, my bulb is not working. After struggling for an hour to get it open, finally did but all the screws are ruined and the sleeve over the lamp is also broken in several places.I just don't want to keep giving my money to Laguna but I don't want to change anything else out on my pond. I have an external biofilter (also Laguna, I think a powerflo maybe?) that my UV lamp attached to the top . Any suggestions on other models that would work the same way?
Thank you!
Shannon

RE: External UV lamp

I have used Aqua for the last 7 years. Never had a problem. They don't use screws, you just unscrew them to open. Have even replaced the transformer on my unit. All parts are easily available.

Good Luck

Matt
