Accidental water clearing

I only have a little stock tank pond. My learner pond.

I used the pond plant fertilizer that is not supposed to cause algae bloom because you put it down in the soil.
Not.

I was taking out water for a few days and replacing with treated water thinking if I could at least dilute the algae, maybe i could get ahead of it. It would bloom up again during the day. I didn't want to use algaecide, since I like the algae on the surfaces, and the comets eat it.

Meanwhile, the lily and other plants are not really responding to the (*&%$ plant fertilizer, to shade the water. Figures.

I got some Japanese Black Trapdoor snails and a small plecostomus and within two days I could see the bottom. Not perfect, but greatly improved. Reading up, I learned that the snails eat suspended algae.

Double benefit! FWIW, and FYI, for those fighting algae.
