Koi died

I had seven are koi. They were all very healthy. I had weed and feed sprayed on my yard last Tuesday evening and by Friday my Koi had begun to die. We were not present when our yard was sprayed so we are not sure how close to the pond they came. All seven Koi have died within four days of our lawn being sprayed. How can I determine if this was the cause?

Lawn service "technicians" are not highly trained. You found out the hard way.

I have someone come out every 3 months to spray for spiders and bugs and I made sure to tell him that I want something that won't harm my fish.. He said that it does make a difference and was glad I said something to him. I don't know if it would be the same for weeds or not.

Find out the chemical name and google - info on pesticides is pretty easy to come by. I do know that glyphosate (aka Roundup) is toxic to wetland and aquatic animals - says it right there in the manufacturers warnings - and anyone using it ought to be aware of what distances are safe, wind direction, etc.

Sorry to hear about your fish - I do wish we wouldnt have to learn about these things the hard way. .
