| I have a small pond 300 gallons, but I just can't keep the alagae away.We clean it & it stays clear for a couple of days then it's back again. The filter is not dirty, but the water is so cloudy & almost green looking.I tried the barley, but it turned the water a wine color. The strange thing is the fish are thriving & made it through the winter. We just can't see them lol.Any suggestions??? |

| had a similar problem with our small 250 gal. preform pond with a few potted plants in the water til we made a Skippy Filter & ran the water from the pond pump through it when the pump is on. Have a lot of sponge pads in it & also a mint plant (read somewhere that someone had luck doing this!). I also twice a month pour a bottle of peroxide in the pond & for some reason... ?luck, it has remained clear for two years now. Oh there is green sediment in the bottom- which I can suck up with the Muck Vac- but the water itself is clear,,, so clear that when the goldies see me near the pond they surface & open their mouths to be fed!! I leave the green algae that adheres to the sides as I heard that was good for the pond & I do see the fish go & nibble on it a lot. |
