Hummingbirds by pond (w/pictures) Please enjoy.

My wife and I plant two giant planters of zinnies on our deck each year, near the pond. And then without fail in mid July/early August the hummingbirds come to feed. We do not use any sugar water or hummingbird feeders to lure them. Strictly 'au natural' for the little guys.

Gives us such a thrill to see them year after year. This is probably the 10th summer. These pictures are from 7/14/2012 the first 'sighting' of the year.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful pictures. What kind of camera and equipment did you use?

@Adriennemb

All taken with the Canon T3i, lens is the 70-200 IS II "L" with the Canon 1.4X Extender attached.

F/4.0 or around there. Shutter speed were between 1/1000 and 1/850 depending upon the available light.

I was about 8' away from the bird, behind the glass of our back door.

Really nice pictures.

I have some old hummer pictures I took years ago with my first digital camera, a one megapixel canon A10.

Here is a link that might be useful: my hummer pictures

@ Mucky Waters,

Thanks for the pictures, but your link has set off my anti-virus software multiple times. Not suggesting you have done anything wrong, but what ever hosting site you are using is tying to inject trojans and virus' when you click on the link.

I had the same problem with anti-virus software being set off!

Me too! I am using Avast antivirus.

Sorry about that.
My hosting site was compromised years ago, and they somehow slipped in some re-linking java script into the index files. I thought I had them all fixed, but I must have missed that one. Like I said those were old pictures I had not looked at in a while.
Thanks for notifying me, I have just deleted the offending script so it is clean now.
Again, sorry.

If it's any consolation the offending script simply tries to open up another website without your consent much like html pop ups.
