Is there a silver lining to the algae on my waterfall?

I have a very small waterfall. Its not clean for very long in the spring. It quickly has algae all over it and hanging down. I just can't keep up with cleaning it off. Can I say its my biofilter? :)

Cath, one benefit is that it is usually full of blood worms when I have it on my waterfall.
I brush it off into the pond and the fish gobble it up.

Absolutely! It helps remove nitrates from the water, it has beneficial bacteria within it and it helps trap debris.

Also catherinet- you must admit that you do an amazing job of making your "biolfilter" blend in and look so natural. :)
