As promised here are pictures taken today of my Stocktank inground pond. It is only 300 gallons, small by many of your ponds standards. But in my yard it is the 'big' pond as my other two are both 35 gallon ponds. I would love to be able to have a larger pond but first off I just don't have the room. Plus I know I have to keep things simple for upkeep and this just works well for me.

There you are Newyorkrita! I was wondering where you were.Your pond looks great. Can you grow anything in it, with that shade? Is this the same pond you had above ground for awhile?

I love it Rita.. If I remember correctly, there is a drop off on the far side, right? You did a good job incorporating the pond into the landscape. I love the dragonfly plant stake too. Anne

The pond is level, the ground is not. So the far side from were we are looking the ground does slope down some. Its all addressed by the fact that the pond has rocks (cememted) all around it. My plan was for it to look like there was water coming from a rock grotto and look natural. It turned out well and very much gives me the look I wanted. I can only grow water hycinths in there. Its partly shady. The first year all summer it was above ground in a different sunnier spot. I had all sorts of water plants then. But things got so thick I ended up that I could not see my fish. I like it this way, without plants except for water hycinth on top, much better. This spring I didn't even get a chance to buy the water hycinth, I was so busy with my garden. I do come lurk here every once in a while but haven't posted in so long. The problem is that when I spend time at this forum, I just want a larger (much larger) pond. And I have always wanted a stream. I can't have either, no room. So I have to make do with what I have. Believe me, this is so much better than the two 35 gallon ponds that were all I had before.

Rita you pond is very lovely! I love how you have nestled it amongst the trees and ferns. Do you have many bird visitors? Lisa

I think the birds like the shallow pond in the backyard better. Also there is a regular birdbath nearby this pond. This year, not alot of birds at the pond because it has no water hycinths. Last year they would jump onto the water hycinths and splash around. I only had to cut one tree root to get the pond in there so not so bad. But I had some rose shrubs planted there were I put the pond so I had to move those before anything else could be done.
