apparently the third time is the charm. i've tried to grow lotus a few other times before this, but it seems i've finally figured it out!

two of the 9 lotus tubs

rosy cloud fully open

one of mine didn't send up any leaves at all. i felt around in it and the tuber still feels firm. any idea whats up with it? i think it's perrys giant sunburst, but i'd have to look at the tag to be sure.

Very nice Cody!
Is the one that's not putting up any leaves too far down? Was it a new tuber? Did it have eyes on it when you planted it? Its not a good sign that its not growing by now.
How do you handle all those in the winter?

they're all new this spring so i have no idea what i'm going to do this winter. the tubs are buried so maybe just fill them with straw? i didn't bury any of the tubers, just held them in place with a rock. i suppose i'll just dig it up tomorrow and look

My Perry's Giant Sunburst just bloomed for the first time and I planted it in 2008.
