I have been reading the posts on how to vacuum. My pond is 2500 gal, 3feet deep 7'x14'. I built Floyds pond vacuum, however I can't figure out how to attach a wet-dry vac hose to the 2" PVC connection. My other question to those who just use a wet-dry vac is: do you keep emptying the vac when it fills? When I use the vac in my pond it fills in about a minute and would take forever if I had to empty it each time. Maybe you have the discharge open and the water discharges as it enters? Do you attach a hose to the discharge to empty as the water is drawn in from the pond? Thanks in advance for any help.

Scotty, I fitted a 1 1/4" ball valve onto the discharge port's removable cap and I attach a hose to that, to empty the vac when it fills. If you just put an open hose on it the vac will not draw the water in. "Horton"

Horton, Thank you for replying. I guess I am correct in stating that I have to fill the vac, then empty it each time. No way to have the water move right through. The only alternative will be to use Floyds pond vac. I visited Home Depot today and found a 1 1/2" rubber coupling plus a reducer which I think will make the connection between the vac and the 50 gal drum. Again, thank you.

"I guess I am correct in stating that I have to fill the vac, then empty it each time. No way to have the water move right through." Unfortunately that is the way it works. You fill it up, open the valve to empty it, shut the valve and start again. Flloyd's drum holding tank is a great idea.
