Maybe a floating planter would solve your problem. Anchor the planter to the bottom with something heavy so it will not float to the skimmer.

Use heavy fishing line anchored at two places from the shore line to keep them contained. FYI don't be suprised if those floaters struggle in the new water of your new pond.

Don't buy the expensive "pond floating islands". Go to a craft store and buy one of those hard wreath forms. Find something to wire to the bottom to hold the plants. I used a round needlepoint backing material and florist wire. This will cost only a couple dollars each. I have two in my pond full of impatiens.

a hula hoop that you attach with fishing line to the side of the pond works wonders... My bigger koi nose the plants out occasionally but the majority stay in... I also have put a piece of fishing line across the pond and anchor it on both sides so that the plants don't go in the skimmer

The hula hoop is the way to go with floaters.
