Pure happiness

I have found that my waterlilies do so much better when left barerooted. And it doesn't hurt the fish as far as i can tell. Plus they get so much larger like this cause the fish waste really fertilizes the plant better than I can.

Here's another. I thought this was Texas Dawn but it doesn't have the speckled leaves so now I don't know what the heck it is. It might be Joey Tomlick.

Wow, your lilies are lovely and such healthy looking leaves. Do you just have the roots loose in the pond or are they in a net bag? Do they stay on the bottom all by themselves or do you have to weigh them down?

Pashta I just threw them in the pond they floated for awhile then after they grew more roots they sank to the bottom. They are loose in the silt on the bottom i think thats why they do so good. they are in pure organic fish waste. And they are in still ponds in full sun. 3 1/2 ft deep.

I used to plant my lilies in pots that the koi constantly dug up. A few years ago I just anchored them down by tying a rock to the roots and sinking them to the bottom of the pond. The koi no longer bother them. I do keep a rope tied around the roots so I can pull them up when I need to divide them. Like gardener1 I don't fertilize and I have had as many as 12 blooms open at all times. They have taken over half of my 8 X 19 ft oval pond.
