Isn't it great when the Hyacinths bloom!

We live in Canada and put Hyacinth in our fish pond and they grow fast and are lovely but they have never flowered. We bought a half rain barrel to put on our deck and put some Hyacinth from our pond into the barrel with a homemade floating island we made and the Hyacinth bloomed!

It seems they like to be crowded to bloom which makes sense as our little barrel is stuffed with the island and Hyacinth.

The water is just rain water and we don't add anything so it must be pretty poor water quality and I think that helps the Hyacinths bloom.

They are awesome...only last two days but still we love them!

I was out of town when most of mine bloomed. Too bad, they're really lovely. Hoping a few more might got. I have them in the pool at the top of my waterfall, so they're quite crowded there.

I think the one you're asking about is an obedient plant. It's blooming now in this picture with purple flowers
