I am definitely no expert, mainly because all of my attempts to propagate have failed, but as long as youre careful and dont damage the root stock I think you can move them to a different pot. I have done more reading and apparently the only way to divide lotus is the large tubers you find not the white runner roots.

My one an only is running wild. It is flowering on a free floating runner. I found a shoot taking root between the rocks at the edge of my pond a couple of days ago. These pics will hopefully be new plants ready for larger pots in the fall. These are very thin walled pots  I cut holes in the sides, split the sides and brought them up under the runner at the new rooting areas, anchored them and put just a little soil in the pots. The plan is to add soil as the plants grow until the pots are full. What do you think, will it work??????????????????

The parent plant had only 4 leaves on it when it went into the pond a month ago.
My fish are country too, they came over to see what I was doing.

you raised that from seed?

Purchased the parent plant the day I put it in the pond. Evidently got a ripe one!
