Water Lettuce vs. Hyacinth

In May, I went to my local pond shop and purchased 6 water hyacinth plants.

I noticed that two of the six plants looked different. The girl helping me noticed too, but just put them in the bag.

I planted same in a six foot ring made of black plumbing pipe that I made. It floats in the pond and contains them.

It's now August, the hyacinth has been overwhelmed by the water lettuce, which is ok cause it's a pretty green color.

Just an observation. hyacinth and water lettuce don't mix! Am I right here?

Thanks,

Rich
