Laugh w/ me not at me....

We bought our 115 yr old victorian 2 yrs ago. The house had been sitting vacant for several years and quite overgrown. First summer, I planted some gardens to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. This spring we dug a 1,500 gal pond. I had to move all the plants I planted last year to a new "holding" spot until deciding where they would stay. I have been babying them for a couple months now only to realize one of the plants I have been waiting to bloom (because I forgot what it was) is a "burr bush"! Sorry I don't know the technical name for it, but I do know the front of my shirt took several minutes to clean off after trimming it back and it is a weed! Don't fertilize weeds :)
The other transplants look great (and they are not weeds) and the pond is one of the best back breaking projects I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying!

OH, my, I have been guilty of that type of behavior more than once in my life, starting when I was a child and brought home a cute yellow Pin-wheel flower to put in the wild flower garden. By the time I graduated HS that's all there were in the wild flower garden, yellow pin-wheel flowers. Sad to say, I still do that kind of thing. Pamper a lovely vine only to learn it is a noxious weed in this area and should be pulled up when found. hahaha

Forget-me-knots, when they form seeds, are small burrs. I can't think of another garden flower that forms burrs but I bet there are a few.

I once babied a sneezeweed until it bloomed.
Well, they don't normally grow around here- how was I to know?
