Apple cider?

I have cut back my crabapple tree over my pond but the little buggers still fall off the tree and bounce in. Aside from spraying the blossoms (spray gets into pond) to stop the apple from forming or doing a GW on the cherry tree do I have any fear with these rotting/fermenting on the pond bottom (rubber liner). The pond is approx. 750 gal. with 15 common goldfish. Suggestions?

I have tried using my shop vac but I know I am missing scads of them.

You can go in the pond with a little shovel and a bucket
and scoop them out.

Another alternative is a net or screening of some kind. I built a PVC pipe frame and covered it with screening for the fall. It's not pretty but it does keep the leaves out of the pond. Here it is in late fall (leaning against the fence) after I've covered the pond with old windows.
