huge amount of dirt dumped into pond!!

Just had a huge amount of dirt dumped into my pond -- we have a mountain beaver living in our garden (p.s. any ideas on how to get rid of one of those??) --- and they are great tunnelers. Unfortunately when it was excavating, it pushed all the dirt from its tunnel into the pond. There was probably half a wheelbarrow full. So there it sat at the bottom of the pond, and there is dirt particles throughout. I drained most of the water out of the pond but was unable to catch my goldfish, so gave up and started re-filling the pond. This has helped the water clarity somewhat, but I am still concerned about the pump running silty type dirt water through it. Any ideas? Will this harm my pump? I am periodically running fresh water through the pump to try and keep it clear. And again, any ideas on the mt. beaver? Indigenous to Northwest. Illegal to trap. Is also eating its way through my garden. Thanks for any help.
