Defective Pump????

I purchased a pump for my new pond in June (it's about 4 months old now). About 2 weeks ago it stopped for no reason. I took it apart and found no obstructions and the pre-filter was pretty clean, I put it back together and plugged it in and it worked. Last night it went off again. This time I unplugged it and let it sit for an hour or so then plugged it back in and it worked. This morning it happened again...

Seems a pump's life should be longer than 4 months for the price. Any thoughts on what it could be or any experience with this brand, good or bad?

It is a Danner HY-Drive 7000 GPH Water Pump I think.
This is what the pump looks like.

BTW, I also have a bubbler in the pond so I am not too concerned about breif periods with the pump not running... I hope I am correct in thinking the bubbler will provide enough oxigen for a short amount of time.

Correction, the pump is not a danner as stated above, it is a Eco Plus 7400 gph pond pump. I went into the pond shop where I purchased it and the returned and replaced it with a different brand pump. Sounds like the Eco Plus is a pump you all may want to avoid.

Don't know anything about that brand but sounds like an electrical problem (within the pump).

I'm crossing my fingers. I've been running two Laguna 7500s for about 3.5 years now, last year even through winter.

Love the idea of the magnetic drive pumps, which these are.
