| Don't know your exact weather patterns or kinds of plants you have, but I started preparing last fall before the leaves starting falling. I pulled out the WH, and tropicals. Trimmed all the leaves of the others that overwinter in the pond and either lowered them into the bottom of the pond or sunk them a few inches below the waterline, depending on the plant. Some tropicals came into the house, and others I buried in the dirt on the south side of the house. As for your Hibiscus, here in Okalhoma, I treat them like I do my elephant ears and Taros, which are the ones I bury in the dirt. After all that, I erect my frame and attach the net and settle in for a long winter. |

| I would think doing it before your first frost, unless you can cover your pond for the first few mild frosts that have warm days between, is the best idea. The frost does a nasty job on WH. Anne |
