Shalom - anybody have any idea if linseed oil is toxic to Koi? I have a wood pump house of which a wall of it will overhang the pond and was thinking of weather proofing with a linseed oil?

I found this article for you, it does mention feeding Linseed oil as a fat.
Here is a link that might be useful: Linseed oil

Dumping a 5 gal pail of Linseed oil into the pond would indeed not be good.
|
We use linseed oil a lot to refinish old wood and the stuff is indeed combustible like nothing I have ever seen. Everything you use, rags, brushes should be placed in an area where they can lite on fire without doing damage. We just put them in the fire pit in the back yard and with no fire or hot coals they soon ignite starting a fire on their own. Not sure about the effects on fish and ponds but be very careful with what is used to apply the oil.

Shalom - thanks for the comments - At the price of linseed oil, I'd not even buy 5 gallons. I've used linseed oil for about 55 years for gun stocks and furniture, including German antiques, but had no idea if it was toxic to fish McKool
