Over wintering Hyacinth & Water Lettuce.

We have successfully over wintered water lettuce and hyacinth
for the last few years. We take in a few of each, and place each one of them
(individually) in a clear tub of water. We use the one quart take out clear
tubs ( like the ones you get take out soup in--in the Chinese restaurant )
We place it in a very sunny window and make sure it doesn't run out of water.

They usually wilt down to the size of a quarter by the time spring rolls
around. We then place them in a big tub of water outside in the sun
until they start growing -- before placing them in the pond... They then thrive in the pond and quickly grow and multiply rapidly.

Note: we do not fertilize them all winter long.
