Waterlily jumped the pot....

This will be my third winter with my hardy waterlily. It has jumped the side of the pot and half of the tuber is not in the pot. If I just trim off all the leaves, can I leave it as it is through the winter and repot in the spring? If I place pot into the bottom of the pond, will the exposed tuber die? It's too late to even think about repotting.

Thanks,
Vickie

It will be fine.

Next spring un-pot it and wash off all the soil. Chop off the dead back half of the rhizome and replant the growing section with the chopped off end against the back of the pot.

Thanks, Buy. I was hoping that would be the case. Appreciate it.
