| I really want to have a pond. Gardening and saltwater aquariums are my biggest hobbies and adding ponds only seems to make sense.
I have two spots in my yard. One that is in full sun and the other gets partial sun. There are not many trees around either area. I'm thinking I want a water garden/bog area in full sun and a koi pond in part sun. Question is which would be the better one to start with to get into this hobby? Any recommendations? I'm thinking I'd start one next spring and if everything works out the other in a couple of years. That being said, is there a book or two that would be a very good guide for the type of pond selected? |

| Oooh...koi pond gets my vote! Usually you can find a variety of great books at your local library. Between now and spring you can read oodles of them and all the while be taking notes and making plans. If your library doesn't have a huge collection then try browsing the books at your favorite bookstore. You might be surprised to find you don't have to wait a couple of years to build a bog! Notice I didn't say wait a couple years to build a koi pond... LOL! Nance |

| WOW You still have money left after maintaining a SW aquarium?? Are you sure you're doing it right lol?? Koi pond should be bigger with better filtration etc, etc, so are more expensive to start up and maintain My favorites are lily pools or marsh gardens . of course I don't have to contend with winter. There's all kinds of info out there which you can read up on and get a budget going. Depending on features they can get downright expensive. If you keep SW you'll think it's downright cheap though lol gary |
