When to pull plants?

My wife and I are having a difference of opinion on when to pull our plants from the pond. They are mostly penny wort. I was under the impression that they need to be pulled before a killing frost. We live in the Seattle area and have had a number of light frosts but nothing colder than around 28-29 deg. When we do get a heavy frost are the plants basically going to sink relatively quickly or should I acquiesce to my wife's opinion and just "leave em alone?" She is usually right so would love to be right, JUST ONCE!!!The pond is 6' x 10' and 2' to 3' deep with 22 7 yr. old gold fish and Shubunkins. Thanks, I will sleep better.
