Goldfish not floating. Is there a cure?

I just brought in my 7 large goldfish for the winter. They live in a small plastic pond I have submerged in the ground, but it's too small for them to survive the winter. I put them in a large tub in my basement. I noticed that one of the comets is sinking whenever he stops swimming. I saw that once before and the fish died within a few months. Is there any cure for him?

Probably not. :( I had one die yesterday and he looked just fine. The gills were dark red, but I don't know what is normal. I just end up adding a couple dozen gold fish every year. I think the herons usually get them and possibly garter snakes.
