Howdy..I emptied my two 50 gal top ponds today looking for frogs that had chosen a bad place to overwinter...found one little guy and tossed it in the big (600 gal) pond. I know there are 2 frogs in there with all my fish and I am sure there are more. I was able to send 4 of my 2 yr old fish to a pet shop so I think we should be ok for overwintering now. I have 4 "frog pots" (small plant pots filled with cheese cloth) and all the lilly pots in the pond ready for winter. The "tent" will go on at the last minute when I have to shut the pump off for the winter. The question is...I always put a bit of pond salt in just before I shut the pond down.....will this hurt the frogs?

I had a fish go ill late spring this year so I added a therapeutic dose of salt to my pond. Neither my big froggie from last year or the two tadpoles from this year seemed the worse for it.

It will not harm the frogs, but be careful because it will harm your plants.
