Start Up a Goldfish Pond

Hello, all. Hoping someone has some suggestions. I have a pond, about 700 gallons, with a sand filter and a 2 speed pump. It used to be home to koi, but was shut down. I would now like to re-start it, but just for goldfish (want low maintenance). What is recommended for re-start? i.e., I would assume I should replace the filter media (any recommendations of type?) How should I treat the water initially, and on an ongoing basis? etc.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

How long has it been shut down?
Where are you located? Will these fish be accustomed to outside temps? Fancy goldies don't do well outside in the winter.

I would not only replace the filter media, but I would also do a total clean out and refill. Be sure to use a declor.

I'd let the system run about a week before I added any fish. Start with just a few. I have 10 goldies in my 800 gallon stocktank and that is plenty. They will multiply often. Once fish have been added all others should be quaranteened before adding more.

Enjoy your goldies.
