I have a 2500 gal pond that I established this past summer. I hv been regularly checking the ph and it has been running 9. I hv checked it in the morning as well as in the evening and get the same results. I used a lot of Limestone around the pond and the waterfall. Could that be the reason for the high ph level and if so what can I do to correct the problem. I have about 30 Koi in the pond. I use a test tube type test with drops. All other tests such as Amonia and Nitrates are all good. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey there. Here are two very good threads on the subject. http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/ponds/msg0500293322532.html http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/ponds/msg081933349762.html DRH1 has always been one our very best resources and he is much better than I am at explaining things. Illinois seems to be a hot spot for high PH readings.

If you read the threads, you have nothing to worry about with a pH of 9.

Thank you very much. After reading the threads I feel much better about the ph level. I am a new pond owner and just want to make sure I am doing things correctly.
