Roses and rabbits!!!

Posted by eveningrace (My Page) on

Anyone have a good way to keep rabbits off roses? They were doing great and the next morning the rabbits had cleaned off all the leaves right down to the branches!!!! I hate placing chicken wire around them, so does anyone out there have any good ideas????
THANKS ~ I remain desperate!!!!

RE: Roses and rabbits!!!

We have rabbits among other critters ----My DH makes wire fences for each plant to protect all the small plants----the climbers and ramblers can take care of themselves---
This is the only way I've found to protect my babies-----

I understand about not wanting to use the chicken wire but that seems to be the only thing that really works against rabbits and groundhogs--

DH uses a better---stronger dark green version of standard chicken wire.

Good Luck---I understand your frustration.

RE: Roses and rabbits!!!

Maybe a silicon drench will help.

"Boosting silica levels in wheat leaves reduces grazing by rabbits"

Here is a link that might be useful: link for reference
