Red knock outs have become pink

I have 3 red knock outs that have bloomed bright red for 2 years. This year they bloomed profusely, but pale pink? I added ash to them this winter, as usually roses like ash. Any thoughts?

RE: Red knock outs have become pink

This would be better asked in the main forum (this is the off-topic Conversations forum).

Knock Out ranges from cherry red to dark pink in many places. I don't know if the ash does anything to pH balance or if Knock Out reacts to pH changes. I do know that Pink Knock Out and Blushing Knock Out are color sports (mutation) of Knock Out. My blushing will occasionally have a dark pink bloom. Also, they could be reacting to a lot of direct heat.
