Rant: odd sounds in TV ads

Because we have pensioner cats, my ears are attuned to cat distress sounds. I expect dog lovers also have that sort of switch built in and I know parents are ever vigilant.
One of our local Dodge dealerships has a huge ad budget. And in their ads is a random sound of a cat in distress. It's about two seconds long.
That d####d ad has had me in a panic checking on my old cat until Larry said he heard it too and it was on TV. And sure enough, it's there in the Ray Viles ad. Larry also has picked up on another seemingly random sound there.

I can tell you I will not even consider a vehicle from these people.
End rant.

Ann, I'm noticing weird sounds from a lot of ads. I will be in the grocery store when one comes on and I swear I hear my phone ringing because it sounds like a ring tone I have.

A car dealer I will never use is Brad Benson Honda. He used to play football, I guess he figures he can use that to his advantage. He has the most vulgar ads, most having to do with celebrities and/or sex. The latest is about one of the Presidential candidates and cutting things back by 30%. He mentions maybe he wants to cut back his Viagra but after seeing pictures of his young hot wife, it wouldn't be a good idea.

I get really annoyed with commercials that are louder than the rest of the commercials and shows. Comcast is a prime example of these commercials - really loud and really annoying!

This is why there's TiVo and the "Mute" button.

The sound that bothers me is the sound of the ice cream truck. Until last year we would hear it for about 3 or 4 hours. We could hear it all through our neighborhood, and across the ravine in the neighborhood next to us. There are a few vendors, and the sound is awful for those of us who like to be outside.

About a year ago one of the biggest sellers changed his tune to a mooooo. It almost sounds like a cow, and the low tone doesn't hit my nerves like the clangy jingles.

I also have wondered whose phone is ringing with the phone sounds.

Sammy
