| I have never made potpouri. I had some Peter Mayle blooms in a vase and they dried up perfectly so I saved them. I've cut everything in the garden now to try to make it. My question is what kind of oil is good to use? I'll give it to my MIL who has successfully killed every rose I ever gave her.
Thanks,

| for the synthetic http://www.sfherb.com/potpourri-recipes.asp I kind of like just the plain petals with roses myself, not even a wooden bowl. Grams used to just stuff a bunch of stuff in a sachet cache (packet) to keep closets, and dressers sweet smelling. We found a bunch of soap made with real rose oil last year. That was a cool gift. We even gave some to ourselves. |

| You can get essential rose oils on a good number of sites on line. Rose geranium runs under $20 for a 1/6 ounce, rose otto 10% runs around $15 for the same and about $60-$80 for 100% 10% is just fine. I like to add a drop or 2 of ylang ylang or for somthing earthier a drop of clove oil with the rose oils. Rosewood essential oil is also a nice fragrance with dried petals. |
