| poop? Smaller girl dog went out and found some &&&& and got it all around her neck. How disgusting! WHY would they want to do it? Unfortunately, Mom didn't have much sympathy in her bath.

They do it . . . . . . so they can spread round worms around. That way when you take them to the Vet, both dogs can get some medicine. Today at the Vet. Diagnosis: round worms Glad you mentioned this, Carla. Sammy

Mine prefer 'Eau de Dead Things' over 'Eau de Merde'. Cheers, Michelle

We look at art in galleries, sometimes not that dissimilar - remember the Virgin Mary covered in Elephant Dung or "Piss Christ" which was a crucifix in a jar of the guy's urine? But we get our information primarily through our eyes, whereas dogs get theirs thru their noses. So they are probably getting a lot more info that is important dog-wise than we can possibly imagine. We get disgusted, they get ground level intelligence. Or maybe they just like to creep us out sometimes. They will scarf down fresh vomit, after all.

Oh yeah. That's one reason I can't stand the idea of dogs on the bed. Can't see how people let them jump up and sleep on the sheets after a nice roll in something horrifyingly gross.

"why DO dogs play in other dog's 2" Because you've taken animals that want to be country dogs and made them into city dogs. Country dogs have their choice of assorted poops or even carcasses of varying ripeness. Dogs like to have choices. This week our wonderdawg has chosen to drag a deer carcass in from the woods and is making random bone meal deposits on our hill top. She did find a riper one one time, and hid it like a stash, dragging fragrant bits out every so often to roll on in the front yard on the hill side. I don't even want to remember how long that one lasted. Yet, she's never been skunked, so there ARE some places she won't go.
Unnecessary addendum

Wonderdawg remains an outdoor dog.

Ooh, worms and eating dog vomit. I wish I hadn't started this thread. The animal carcass doesn't bother me as bad. Yuk, I could puke right now myself. Carla

Ann, I'm glad you added that last statement, LOL! Actually, there may be something to that country dog/city dog...this latest dog of mine ignores other dogs' droppings but just goes nuts over such from other animals, (like horses, raccoons, deer, cows, bear, etc. etc.) And dead animals, now *that* would be heaven to her, I'm sure. I've learned that she can be standing and innocently sniffing, then drop and roll in a heartbeat. ;-)

Apparently it is a delicacy in doggieland. Why I really enjoy eating snails baffles me, too. I can't explain either, I admit. 'It's good...'??

I was cleaning up the Dogs' yard when I received a phone call. Fortunately there was only a small amount that I left so I could catch the phone (missed it), and when I returned it was gone. A friend once told me that people shouldn't get mad when their animals do this. We like it so much that we pick it up, and put it in a bag and save it. It must be good or we would leave it alone. So the dog does what we do, but he saves it in a different way. I don't buy it either, but that may be the way a dog's brain works. Sammy

Face it. Fido can't afford cologne. He has to use whatever is handy.

My theory is that they do it do disguise their doggy scent. Dogs are predators after all. Still grosses me out when our Maggie rolls in horse @@@@ then comes prancing up to us like she were the queen of Sheba. That's when she goes straight to the bath.

We have three small dogs and sometimes one dog will eat the other's poop! Ugh! ITs disgusting. Our vet said that we can spray the poop with some bitter apple. Unfortunately, that didn't work. We've tried everything to get this one dog to stop, but to no avail. Still we joke around and say, that he likes the "hot lunch program"! Yes, its GROSS, but we still love our dogs no matter what.
