Miniature white lights on my Knock-Out Rose bushes ?

I have a rather large CIRCULAR Knock-Out Rose Garden with approximately 30 bushes. Most of them will be 3 years old this summer. I am considering putting miniature white lights on them and am wondering if they might harm the rose bushes. I believe they would be beautiful at night. I am also considering doing the same with climbing roses.

What do you think? Might they harm the bushes? If so, I certainly wouldn't put them on. I will send a picture if you request it. Thank you in advance for your advice.

I do not think there will be any harm, but the roses may grow such that the lights may be rather quickly covered up by new growth. LED lights which produce almost no heat at all and use very little electricity would be good. My 3 strings of LED star lights connected all together use only 1 watt.

Go for it! And then post us a picture! Incandescent or LED, the lights won't harm the roses at all. I do it all the time. I don't have any other kinds of shrubs around my house except roses so they get decorated. I think it's sounds like it's going to be very pretty!

I agree, but wonder if the potentially difficult pruning resulting from the wires being concealed by the plant growth would be worth the hassle? I deal with a weeping cherry that has such lights wrapped through it. The effect is quite pretty when lit and it hasn't hurt the tree at all, but maintenance is a real pig, trying not to cut through all those wires when I have to remove errant growth. Kim

I just posted a picture in Photo Galleries. AFter the above follow-ups, I may just light the tree above and put a spotlight on the rose bushes. Perhaps this is the better idea.

While that may not be as whimsical, I bet it will be a WHOLE lot easier in the long run, and be quite pretty. Kim
