I have tried to like Dick Clark in spite of all the positive comments and I just cant. It fades into a muddled color - I have seen a large amount of them blooming at a big rose nursery and I just dont like it. Double Delight is always good, though I dont grow it now. Two of my favorites, that I have on order, are California Dreamin' and Charles Aznavour. I'm sure there are more, just cant think of any at the moment.

I think the official term is 'picoteed' which is fun to say ;o) My current favorite is Dream Come True, Betty Boop is very cute but the vase life is pretty short. I tried to grow Cris Evert and although the flowers were gorgeous it just wasn't a very healthy rose so I sp'd it this year.

Good luck with your search, please share your final list for others who love these special roses!

Gemini. Moonstone is nice too.

Since I don't know much about HTs and their vase life, I appreciate all the above info. I'm looking for info. on how many days Heirloom lasts in the vase.

I used to grow Double Delight, the fragrance is delightful in hot weather. Unfortunately the cold weather here lessens the fragrance of certain Hybrid teas, and I don't know if Heirloom rose stays fragrant in cold weather and its vase life. Thanks in advance.

DD is probably the most fragrant of the ones I have. But Dream Come True has a better vase life than DD. In a mauve my Paradise gets that red edge but not all the time, depends on the weather. In full hot sun it gets redder, in cool, cloudy weather it gets paler.

I'm in hot/dry climate.

1. Double Delight. Didn't bloom much for me in it's 2nd year, but the few blooms were huge, amazingly scented, and lasted a week in a vase.

2. Dick Clark. Bought this summer, planted in the dead of heat. Bloomed it's fool head off. Blooms are much smaller, maybe 3" at their largest. Very pretty, scent is mild, nice in vase - at least a few days.

3. Heirloom (although not picoteed, but for question above) - one of my favorites for color (rich light purple, but darker than lavendar) and fragrance (amazing). Super repeat bloomer, great disease resistance, a few days in vase.

4. Broadway - good disease resistence, barely fragrant, multicolored - red/orange/yellow - really beautiful. Lovely in vase - 3 days.

5. Cherry Parfait - colored like a reverse of Double Delight. Small mostly unscented blooms, prolific repeater, at least 4 days in vase.

6. Dream Come True - too early to tell, planted late summer, only got a few but beautiful blooms.

7. Paradise - dark pink lavendar edges - consider it a fair rose. Real leafy, not so many blooms, no scent. Nice in vase - 3 days.

8. Arizona - orange/yellow - really want to like it, but stingy bloomer and not so disease resistent. Blooms only last a few days on plant or in vase.

7. Cl Aloha - darker pink center, lighter pink outside but not very noticable color difference. Superb climber, super fragrant, awesome in vase.

Thank you, Harmonyp, for the above list. I have been searching for info. on Aloha & Heirloom and found it. Thank you for your help.

I have to agree that Dream Come True is a winner-mine has a lovely scent and a long vase life. So much fun to pick out new roses...

Unfortunately, on the east coast, any hybrid tea is going to get blackspot and require regular treatment with a fungicide. There are a few that are more resistant than others. Love & Peace is somewhat resistant for me, but still requires some treatment during the growing season.

Last summer was my first summer with Paradise Found, and I think it's outstanding. I have it right next to Paradise, which I really thought was superb until Paradise Found outperformed it in both beauty, scent, and production.

It lasts about 3 days longer in the vase than Paradise as well.

Gemini is beautiful in the garden, and does last long in a vase indoors if cut early, but you lose the beautiful edging if it's cut that early....at least where I live. It takes a few days in the sun for my Gemini to show its phototropic picotee, and when I cut an opening bloom, I end up with a pale ivory indoor rose.

Double Delight pops right out with a vibrant picotee, so it's lovely if cut early & brought inside.

My best rose in this category for impeccable form, loads of blooms, and awesome color is Perfect Moment.....but it has no fragrance whatsoever. It lasts forever in a vase.
