I just received a water meter that I ordered. But the probe is only 9 inches long. Will this go deep enough to give me an accurate reading?? andrea

I think so. If mine is longer it isn't by much. I think six to eight inches down is a good indicator.

Oh thanks Seil. I was hoping that it was ok. I actually used it this morning and it just backed up what I already knew. My one in ground bed sits over some tree roots and always seems to take more water than the other IGB. The meter shows the (rooty) bed as being drier than the other. Also, my big pots, as everyone has said, dry out faster than the in grounds. This is fun! I even used it on my indoor plants. Thanks again, andrea

andreak: The one I have is 7 inches from the bottom of green base to the tip of probe. Works great for me. Pembroke

Thanks Pembroke... I had to make sure it would work. With California's lack andrea
