| The picture is of a Gold Medal I bought bareroot at Home Depot. I bought 3 of them and this is the only one showing burned/shriveled-looking leaves (to the left of the new, red leaves). I had this plant against a south-facing, light-colored wall last week when we had record heat; hence the sunburn theory. I've since moved it. Is this serious, or will it resolve on its own? Thanks! | Are you referring to the bronzy/reddish leaves in the center of the photo, or the three leaves, one to the left of the bronzy/reddish cluster of leaves, and two the the right of that cluster with some browning? The bronzy/reddish leaves in the center of the photo are new growth of a perfectly normal color. They will green up as they grow. The brownish leaves look like they were damaged at some point rather than sunburnt. Sunburnt leaves look bleached out, yellowed in the center that gradually browns if the sunburnt tissue dies completely. Or I'm missing something--new glasses--do I need to take them back to the optometrist? |

I don't think those leaves to the left of the new growth look sunburned. There's only one leaf there that looks crinkled and that doesn't look like burn to me. Looks more like some kind of damage. The others around it all look pretty green and healthy too. I know I don't get your kind of heat but when my leaves fry (and they do here to sometimes) the the whole leaf turns brown and crunchy not just a spot or two. To me that looks like a pretty darn healthy rose!

Thanks, everyone! I meant the crumpled/crinkling leaves, not the new red growth. Maybe the leaves were damaged when I moved the rose to its new spot? I am pretty much a completely clumsy person .. Seil, I hope you're right! Thanks again, Sylvia

Sorry, you did say new growth. Maybe these new glasses need checking after all.

That's a great example, hoov!
