Joan Rivers rose

| Ralph Moore created a modern rose from Playboy X Condessa de Sastago and introduced it as Joan Rivers. No one lists it on HMF, nor does Texas A&M appear to have it. Might anyone here on the forums grow it and be able and willing to share cuttings, please? Thanks. Kim |

| Probably, plus a garish color which ages very badly. I think "tasteless" might well be the usual term to describe it. To be accurately named, it would also need to be a completely persistent plant, refusing to go away, probably much like a shoot of Dr. Huey. Actually, though, the rose has a large flower, relatively decent foliage, with an intensely saturated red color. I only saw it at Sequoia under plastic and the plants were tall, loaded with flower. Mr. Moore had said his agent was on a morning news/talk show when Ms. Rivers' agent was also a guest. They spoke and the connection was made. He named the rose as a business arrangement, not really being all that familiar with the celebrity. Kim |

| I seem to remember seeing a rose called JOAN RIVERS quite a long time ago in one of the Spring Hill rose catalogs. I believe it was a deep red one? I could be mistaken about that. But I seem to remember thinking I wouldn't order it because it was just another red (not my favorite color class). I'll have to go hunt thru all my old catalogs and see if I am correct about that. Not that it's going to help you much... |

| I stifled myself yesterday, but I just can't help myself today. The bloom has probably changed every decade so will be unrecognizeable when compared to its original self. |

| I heard it was 85% plastic. It was recently overheard mocking other roses' foliage. Someone reported seeing it throw out a thorny cane at Chelsea Handler. **Disclaimer: Brought to you by Groans 'R Us |

| And it has thrown off a sport. Looks nothing like the mother plant. Equally noxious, however. Does not play well with others in the garden. |

| Its bed needs to be dressed at least 5 times a day, but still won't be satisfied. |
