I attended the Puyallup Fair in Washington this past fall. This rose took lots of ribbons. I took the picture but lost the name of the rose. Can anyone help? It obviously grows well in the Pacific Northwest and I ..... need one!

No laughing in the audience cause I'm not very knowledgeable about pink hybrid teas, but could this be Queen Elizabeth? Diane

Most likely: Touch of Class.

p.s. next time you take a picture of a rose, also take a picture of the tag. That cures that problem.

yes I always take a pic of the tag then the rose. Gorgeous flower! Doesn't quite look like 'Signature', which is a blend of pink and white, the pink and white both distinct and the white quite noticeable at least in my yard. Recall that a lot of exhibition roses are sprayed like crazy, sheltered from the sun with individual soda bottles or under shade cloth, etc. That could be a generally lousy garden rose grown to perfection by an skilled experienced exhibitor who really goes all out with chemicals and care. Too bad the fair doesn't post a list of winners of all the contests. Perhaps a local newspaper does. Looks like a great fair.

I tried some Google research and got long lists of names, but no names of plants involved. The newspaper that popped up had some listings, but again, no plant names. Maybe someone out there can do better than I did following this line of research using Google. Diane

If the blooms were protected from direct sun, could be Signature. Signature needs sun to bring out the white. I've seen pink Signatures that were covered. But then again if the person that displayed this collection is a hard core exhibitor, they either just put 3 blooms in a big hurry or they aren't that hard core. The bloom that we can see real well needs to have that inside petal adjusted so the inside of the bloom is evenly balanced. Very simple adjustment.

Signature is much darker in my damp, foggy Pacific-Northwestish climate. I'm still leaning towards Touch of Class. Did the google search and didn't find anything useful, except maybe this link to the bulletin of the nearest rose society for the month after that show, which has a different pic of Touch of Class in it. See bottom of page 5. Somebody grows that rose for exhibition there.

Actually I have had all of the roses you all suggested and it's none of them! This rose is a unique shade of deep pink. Not like anything I have seen before. And there were quite a few of them on display by different people so it must have been around for a while. I think I may have taken a picture of the name .... just found it in my pictures but not too clear. Is there a rose by the name of Mondale? If not, guess I'll wait till the next Puyallup Fair in the Fall because I bet it will be there again.

Couldn't you just go to the ARS website, find the local society that covers Puyallup, and email them (including this pic) to find out what rose it is? If it won lots of ribbons, surely they'd know what it is. Just a thought :-D

Could be Touch of Class but Tournament of Roses was my first thought. I have QE and she doesn't have that much yellow in her, she's a more blue pink, and the form doesn't seem quite right. Signature has a deeper blush along the petal edges that I don't see on this one.

You know, it looks like my mom's rose Love's Kiss that Jackson and Perkins renamed Rose with an accent on the e-- like a pink wine (RO-ZAY) The name makes it impossible to do a proper internet search of it. ROSE! |

It's not TOR... at least I don't think it is. TOR has a definiate yellow base to the petal and is a lighter apricot colored rose. Another guess is 'Paul Shirville'

This website www.roseshow.com has the results listed of all American Rose Society sanctioned rose shows -- you could go look at other shows in that general area and see if you can find anything that looks similar. I looked for the Puyallup results, but it's not there as apparently that is not an ARS sanctioned show.

A rose like 'Signature' often seen at shows and winning a heck of a lot of ribbons is 'Hot Princess'.
