Can't find Vendelas!

Hello everyone!

I like to cut and dye roses for fun and have recently read that Vendelas are the best rose for this but I can't find them anywhere locally or online as plants, only cuts. Does anyone know if they are available as plants? Thanks :-)

It isn't something registered, so it's not even listed on HMF. Your best bet for obtaining it is to ask at a large florist (or several) to see if they can order it. IF you don't care about patents, you could try propagating it yourself, but most often, florist varieties are not very good garden plants. In the case of really odd colored types such as Leonidas, they don't express the expected coloring unless grown under tightly controlled, greenhouse conditions.

Someone previously discussed Vendelas here on GW and listed two web sites offering the cut flowers. You might skim through it and see if those links still work. Kim

Sorry about that, it didn't come up the first time I searched, but found it after reading the thread. Kim

I believe Vintage Gardens carries the original VENDELA own-root. What plants they have are from Cliff's EuroDesert Roses.

Any white rose can be dyed like that. And if you want to get crazy about it, then cut the rose stem in four pieces and put each one in a separate color.

4 way dyed multicolor rose
