Has Anyone Tried Poseidon?

I know that mauve and purple roses are disease prone and generally not too highly rated but I absolutely love the colour in a rose. I bought Wild Blue Yonder last year and time will tell how is grows but I did love the blooms. Palatine shows a floribunda called Poseidon (Novalis) which is a Kordes 2011 release. They describe that rose as lavender with an old fashioned frilly bloom. It looks gorgeous in their picture and I notice that it is sold out this year. They describe it as being in a group of floribundas ( fairytales line) that is disease resistant and vigorous. If it is true I will have to have it. Anyone have experience with this rose?

I have had one a couple of years. It is not in the best spot, Although it gets good morning sun, not so much in the afternoon and it is quite tall. I do like the ruffled type blooms a lot. It might need to be moved into a sunnier spot. Even though I am not giving it the best advantage, I do like the rose, haven't noticed it is blackspot prone. I would say try it if you can find one.

Poseidon won the German ADR this past fall - so yes it is very disease resistant. It has done well in quite a variety of USA climates, but perhaps it will flower a bit less in the humid hot nights of the gulf coast areas. It will bloom well again as soon as the weather turns cooler.. Not tall in mt area about 3.5 to 4 feet as an own root plant.

I got mine last yr from Palatine. It did pretty decently for a first-yr plant. Really pretty blooms with ruffles and points on the petals. I had it in a pot for awhile, then put it in the ground in the Fall. It'll be interesting to see how it does this season.

Thank you for the input. It sounds promising. Looks like I may have another lavender rose.

It is everything it is promised to be Suzanne. Already becoming a personal favorite. Here is a pic of it from its 1st year in my garden during first flush. It stayed completely healthy all season (like most of my Fairytale roses) and repeated very well.

That is quite pretty. Thanks for the look and the discussion. I have been curious about this one. I may get one if I can get some room somewhere. Does anyone have both Poseidon and Love Song? How do they compare?

Thanks all. The rose does all the work.

Carol,

The scent is no more than light at best unfortunately, but is more than offset by its disease resistance, vigour and bloom production. It is a very charming rose as well.

TMM, good to hear from you, and thanks for the update on this one! Nice to have a mauve/lavender with good resistance!
