I've sold and observed many. As long as the two varieties are balanced, they can be quite attractive, given that you like standards. Budding two color sports of the same rose is pretty much the ideal as the two varieties are fairly equal in growth and shape. It's more difficult balancing two unrelated varieties so they appear fairly uniform, other than color, but some very interesting and attractive results can be created. I've wanted to bud color sports of the same polyanthas to make standards, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Anyone here who wishes may 'steal' the idea with my blessings! Kim

I've seen these and they can be really lovely. If I had room to store another standard in my shed all winter I'd probably go for a two-fer myself. Kim, my thought was a weeper at the base with a more upright on the top. Think that would work?

Why not, Seil? They bud two and three ball poodles with minis. You can bud just about anything you want to. Determining what would be the appropriate sizes would be the most difficult part. Kim

Thanks, Kim. I just thought that it would look nice with something weeping down and something forming a nice ball shape on top. I've never seen one done like that before. I don't particularly care of the ones where they stick to angular, gawky HTs together. The plant just gets all misshapen to me. They need to look more graceful in my opinion.

Kim and Seil, Thanks much for your input..... Have a wonderful weekend! Annie

You're welcome! We're fortunate here. The only two things we really need to concern ourselves with on standards are sunburn on the trunk and securely tying it against the wind. You should really learn to bud and make some of these imaginative things for yourself. It can be a great deal of fun! Kim
