I can't spell. Should be paper mache. The nurseries where I am weren't selling bare root in December. They are sold in small paper mache containers. The pot is supposed to dissolve over time. Mine were falling apart when I planted them a month after purchase.

The bare roots here in Santa Monica are pushing their first buds out as well. Bolero and George Burns were the first. There have already been a handful of random blooms on the established plants. Arizona, Disneyland, Double Delight, Wildeve, Lady Banks, and Iceberg all had at least one bloom yesterday at my mom's house. The bands from last fall are also budding out after adding some nice size over the last few months. Brown Velvet has doubled in size and has two very fat, gorgeous buds I'm excited to see. Lavender Pinnochio is in the same boat, but has 4 clusters of at least 4 buds and Cornelia is already a couple feet tall with tons of buds. Quite the transformation from the band received in the mail. Potting up has sure helped. The bulbs and buds springing up are very exciting! Jay

I've already got 3 blooms. The pruned roses didn't skip a beat this year, just kept on growing. It's going to be a long summer (CA).

socks12345: We had some unusually cold weather in December and all my established roses are taking a nap , except Galway Bay which woke up. The ones I planted this year are growing fast. The weather this month has been mild.
